Serving Highway Tabernacle of Prayer with humility, restoration, and a steady call to prayer, holiness, and faithful worship.
On July 17, 2019, before his brother Bishop Andrew James Ford II transitioned to his eternal reward, he made clear his desire that Bishop E. Malone Porterfield, Sr. would lead his beloved people into their next season. It is with total humbleness and spiritual fulfillment that Bishop Porterfield now serves as pastor of Highway Tabernacle of Prayer.
"I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord."
Psalm 27:13-14
Called to pastor Highway Tabernacle of Prayer in Philadelphia.
Married the love of his life, Lady Travell Porterfield.
Ordained an elder under the late Bishop J. Howard Sherman.
Bishop and Lady Porterfield share five children together.
It was in 1991 that E. Malone Porterfield was ordained an elder under the hand of the late Bishop J. Howard Sherman, a servant in the Church of God in Christ. Shortly thereafter, he relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, where Apostle Robert Evans helped shape the next stage of his ministry and deepened in him a heart for integrity, service, and the local church.
Later, Bishop Porterfield returned to Philadelphia to serve in his family's church, Ford Memorial Temple, under the leadership of his eldest brother, Bishop Andrew J. Ford II. From there, the Lord continued to order his steps into Florida and North Carolina, where Restoration Tabernacle was planted, strengthened, and used as a place of evangelism, restoration, and spiritual growth.
In 2012, under divine direction, His Grace The Most Reverend Bishop J. C. Howard of Pensacola set E. Malone Porterfield, Sr. aside for the sacred office of bishop in the Lord's church. On January 10, 2014, in Chattahoochee, Florida, he was consecrated to that office. In April 2014, he was given the reins of pastoring the church formerly known as Dixon Temple FBCOTLG in Pensacola, which became Restoration Tabernacle after reorganization.
After years of living on what he describes as the backside of the desert, Bishop Porterfield has been given the opportunity to live in the light of God's purpose. Today his ministry continues with a burden for souls, restoration, and helping the people of God move faithfully into their next season.
